Leading and well renowned Faridabad-based electric mobility solutions company, Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) has joined hands with India's leading transport logistics service provider, Porter to deploy 250 units of its Range plus fast charging electric three-wheelers under the newly signed mobility-as-a-service (MAAS) MOU between the two companies.
As part of their newly formed agreement, the vehicle, its maintenance and operator will be provided by OSM and Porter will be providing the electric vehicle manufacturer with a fixed rate to cover the cost of operations, as per media reports.
Mr.Uday Narang, Founder of OSM spoke to Autocar Professional and mentioned that the partnership with Porter will see a dedicated production line established and the company will ramp up production from 200 to 5000 units by end-December 2023. "We have a strong order book from Porter where we are looking for a 30-40% MOM(month on month) increase in deployment of electric three-wheelers for last-mile delivery for Porter,” he added.

Further, OSM which is currently located in Faridabad has added a new facility in Chakan in Maharasthra and in Vizag to enhance its south India footprint to meet the increasing demand for its products from major e-commerce businesses.
OSM also stated that its Rage Plus electric three-wheeler is all set to be deployed with battery swapping technology, and Sun Mobility will be investing in its swapping infrastructure at Porter Locations. It is believed to begin set up in the Delhi NCR region and later on in other markets.
Meanwhile, Sun Mobility has also inked a similar agreement with Amazon India warehouses across major cities such as Ahmedabad, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

Narang also said that depending on the location and the assessment based on the locations which are believed to be created by Porter and its experience in the business, OSM will be deploying all three kinds of vehicles.
“From our discussions with Porter and Sun, we have figured that the swappable cost batteries are the lowest as compared to fixed and fast charging and Sun Mobility has committed to making the investment to establish a dedicated infrastructure for Porter,” he said.
The Porter management team further added that it is also in work with other OEMs regarding the strong need to reduce the TCO and the MAAS model having huge cost advantages. “As the demand for the last mile is outstripping the supply we are also in talks with other OEMs for the ICE to EV Shift for Porter. However, we are confident that OSM will be our preferred partner in this journey,” said Manish Gupta, Vice-President Porter.
