Webasto's Cutting-Edge Thermal Technology Unveiled at Busworld 2023

During the Busworld Europe trade event in Brussels from October 7 to October 12, Webasto plans to display its most recent High-Voltage Heaters (HVH) family members, producing 10 and 12 kW of heat output (Hall 7, Booth 7113). The first 800-volt heaters in serial manufacturing worldwide are these second-generation versions.

The new CoolTop 80-e (CT 80-e) electric rooftop air conditioner goes along with these heaters. Together, these technologies offer all-year comfort, maintaining the correct temperature in the passenger compartment as well as the driver's cab. The electronic Thermal Management (eTM) system is a combination of several heating and cooling components put together. Its eTM system effectively controls passenger comfort and traction battery temperature levels.

The modular eTM system combines electric heating and cooling technologies. A heat pump, heat exchangers, high-voltage heaters, underfloor heating, and electric rooftop air conditioners are all used to maintain comfortable temperatures throughout the car. This technology improves energy efficiency and extends the driving range by up to 40%.

The HVH 100 Compact and HVH 120 heaters, which have respective heat outputs of 10 kW and 12 kW, are introduced by Webasto. These little devices offer effective heating for many vehicle types and are compatible with various voltage levels and connection protocols. They place a high priority on energy efficiency by carefully controlling output and temperature.

The Range Plus system, which works with electric minibusses and vans, is a notable addition. The range of an electric car may be increased by up to 80 kilometers in cold weather thanks to this retrofittable air heater with a separate heating circuit, which reduces the load on the traction batteries.

Webasto stresses its function as an e-mobility systems partner, providing complete thermal management solutions to improve vehicle comfort and performance. These solutions cover a wide range of electric bus and have an emphasis on supporting electrification projects.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Webasto's unveiling of their advanced thermal technology at Busworld 2023 is a game-changer for the electric bus industry. It represents a significant leap forward in making electric buses more practical, efficient, and appealing. Webasto has set a new standard for the industry and has demonstrated their commitment to driving the future of sustainable transportation.
