CLEPA unveils 12 Top Innovators leading the Digital and Green transition in the automotive supply industry

The European Association of Automotive Suppliers, or CLEPA, held the 8th edition of its Innovation Awards on October 18, 2023, in Brussels. With an emphasis on Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), the awards honoured leading innovators in the automotive supply sector and highlighted their contribution to the dual shift towards digitalization and sustainability.

Twelve exceptional innovators in two major categories—digital and green—were featured during the event. Mr. Benjamin Krieger, Secretary General of CLEPA, emphasised the significance of these awards in recognising the automobile industry's efforts to fulfil the needs of sustainability and digital transformation.

The inventors in the Green category were Brembo with their Beyond Greenance Kit, SME Mazaro for their Single Stage Variable Transmission for E-drives, Forvia Group Hydrogen Solutions for the XL Hydrogen Tank, Forvia MATERI'ACT for NAFILean-R, and MAHLE for SCT E-Motor Cooling Technology.

Marelli has been named a ‘Top Innovator’ at the Innovation Awards 2023 by CLEPA, the European Association of Automotive Suppliers, with its Diorama Display technology. The Marelli solution was recognized in the ‘Digital’ category, during the awards ceremony held on October 18.

The President of CLEPA, Mr. Thorsten Muschal, emphasised the value of an open technology environment in boosting EU competitiveness. In order to hasten the transition to climate neutrality, he underlined the necessity of fostering an environment that is conducive to technological innovation and variety.

Mr. Elmar Pritsch of Deloitte presented the Digital category by highlighting the transformative potential of software. The rising relevance of software in the automotive sector through results from a recent study on Software-Defined Vehicles.

With an annual investment of €30 billion in research and development, the automotive supply sector. It is a major force behind the transportation of the future. These honours acknowledge and promote the sector's continuous efforts to make the automobile landscape more environmentally friendly and technologically advanced.
