Ashok Leyland launches New Phoenix Truck For Uganda

Globally renowned and well-acclaimed commercial truck and bus manufacturer, Ashok Leyland, has launched a new light truck, Phoenix, for enhancing the fleet operations and profitability of Ugandan businesses. With the help of its new light truck, a versatile product that is suitable for heavy-duty applications, Ashok Leyland believes that businesses will surge in terms of profits. 

As for the brand, it is part of the famous Hinduja Group which has over 74 years of manufacturing experience in the commercial sector. The company has a diversified commercial vehicles portfolio which has helped them become the second-largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India. Further, it is the 4th largest manufacturer of buses in the world, and one of the largest suppliers of defence vehicles to the Indian Army. 

The brand is also known for taking numerous steps to create electric vehicles and new-age fuel technology integrated vehicles for enhancing decarbonisation and to introduce a more sustainable future.

The launch of its latest Phoenix truck which was announced at Ashland Motors Africa showroom in the capital Kampala has truly opened up multiple opportunities for the brand and Ugandan businesses.

As for the vehicle, the Phoenix truck is a 2-ton payload pickup built on an all-new platform that is powered by a 1500 cc Turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 80 Hp of maximum power and 190Nm of peak torque 

Amandeep Singh, the head of International Operations at Ashok Leyland said, “We believe the Phoenix Truck is suitable for the demanding distribution application across the Ugandan market. The product has completed one million kilometres of testing across various markets, and we are confident in the performance and the superior values that phoenix delivers to the customers.”
