Are you trying to find out how truck driving is different from driving a car? If yes, you have hit jackpot. Read on to know more.

Driving a truck is a delight and fun as you get to travel around the freight network that presents you with wonderful destinations and new cuisines. Driving a car also presents the same experience but there is a significant difference between driving a car and a truck. We say this due to some reasons that distinguish the task of driving a truck and a car altogether.

You might have already guessed by now that, today, we are going to check out the 5 ways truck driving is different from driving a car. Well then, we should get on with it, shall we?

  1. Speed limiter:

First and foremost, like a car, you cannot start accelerating and expect the truck to reach triple-digit speeds. This is due to onboard equipment called the speed governor. It makes sure that the truck stays within limits to maintain stability and avoid accidents caused by speeding.

  1. Parallel parking:

A truck is a heavy machinery that is difficult to parallel park. You might have heard a truck driver saying that trying to parallel park is a tough task. Why you may ask? Well, especially on congested roads truck drivers find it difficult to park quickly due to the large size and dimensions of the vehicle. Driving a tractor-trailer forwards is much easier than reversing if you would have to ask us. So, next time you see a trucker trying to parallel park, give them space and time.

  1. Passing vehicles:

Next on our list is a truck driver trying to pass another truck. Well, because of the speed governor system and the heavy loads that truck drivers haul, it is difficult for them to overtake. Heavy or fragile cargo is usually the reason why truckers don't try to speed up and overtake another truck. Cars on the other hand can easily overtake vehicles.

  1. Blind spots:

The truck drivers find it extremely difficult to look out for smaller vehicles in the front as well as rear and also on the sides of the trailer due to the size of the truck and trailer. The front and rear are the bigger blind spot areas of a truck which makes drivers nervous. Compared to a truck, cars can be navigated through narrow roads and traffic quite easily.

  1. Fridge and cooler:

Trucks have coolers and refrigerators inside the cabin unlike cars for the simple reason that truckers spend most of the time driving thousands of kilometres each day and rest inside the truck. This is also one of the main differences between driving a truck and a car.

Thus, the above-mentioned are the 5 ways truck driving is different from driving a car in India. Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below.
