• Engine and Performance

  The Tata Ace Gold is available in three different powertrain configurations – petrol, CNG, and diesel. The petrol and diesel versions are powered by a two-cylinder 694cc petrol engine – 30 PS of power and 55 Nm of torque in petrol and 26.4 PS of power and 51 Nm of torque in CNG. The diesel versions source their power from a two-cylinder, 700cc diesel engine capable of putting up 20 PS of power and 45 Nm of torque.

• Payload

  With a length of 3,800mm, a width of 1,500mm and a height of 1,845mm, the Tata Ace Gold is one of the smallest commercial trucks one can buy on the market right now. However, while the cargo box of the Tata Ace Gold might not be too big in its dimensions – 2,200mm in length, 1,490mm in width and 300mm in height, it has got an appreciable load-carrying capacity of 750 kg. For its size and gross weight of 1,675 kg, the Ace Gold is one capable load haulier.

• Features

  The Tata Ace Gold might be an entry-level, cost-effective commercial truck, but it still gets a couple of essentials like a lockable glovebox on the co-passenger side, a compact centrally-placed instrument console with a fully-digital layout, a USB charger and a bottle and document holder. The Ace Gold also gets AC vents and a 1-DIN audio system.

  Summary

  While the cabin looks basic and functional, the fully-digital instrument console of the Ace Gold is a nice welcoming addition.

• Suspension and Brakes

  The Tata Ace Gold has a simple but rugged mechanical underbody setup, with a parabolic leaf spring at the front and a semi-elliptical leaf spring at the rear. While this suspension setup might look too basic, they serve the purpose of making the Ace gold a tough vehicle of all sorts. The small 12-inch steel wheels of the Tata Ace Gold feature 145/80 R12 tubeless tyres. Despite its entry-level positioning, it gets disc brakes at the front and basic drum brakes at the rear.

  Summary

  While Ace Gold has a basic leaf spring suspension setup at both ends, they do make the compact truck tough in all sorts.

• Exterior

  Since its launch in 2005, the Tata Ace Gold has remained unchanged, which makes it one of the most iconic-looking designs in the small commercial vehicle segment. The Ace Gold has a cute-looking front fascia, which has a simple appeal to it with rounded halogen headlamps on the lower corners of the front face. Just above the headlamps, there are small and rounded amber turn indicators placed. The wide U-shaped grille has a sleek body-coloured partition between it, which has a Tata logo in the middle.

  The overall design of the Tata Ace Gold has remained unchanged for more than fifteen years now, and has a simple appeal to it.

• Interior

  Like the exterior, the interior of the Tata Ace Gold hasn’t received many changes in its layout. The truck gets an all-grey scheme for the cabin, with a two-spoke steering wheel and a centrally-placed instrument console, much like Tata’s own Indica Vista from the past.

  Summary

  While the cabin of the Tata Ace Gold is a no-frills place, the cabin feels functional in its simple-looking layout. Though, it has started showing its age.
