ZF Launches India's First 9-Speed AMT For CVs- EcoTronic Mid

Global Leader in transmission solutions, ZF has come up with a 9-speed fully Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) for Commercial Vehicles (CVs)- ‘The EcoTronic Mid’. It is India’s first fully integrated AMT technology for commercial vehicles which is believed to improve driveability and clutch life while lowering the total cost of ownership.

The ZF’s state-of-the-art automatic transmission system has a deep crawler ratio that offers better gradeability and optimum performance. According to the company, the transmission is 70kgs lighter than the solutions presented by its competitors. Moreover, the transmission system is compatible with a wide range of CV applications. 

In addition to this, the system helps reduce driver fatigue, improves fuel efficiency and also clutch life. This globally approved technology has automated sensors that identify changes in load and gradients to adapt to the torque and engine RPM. This helps the 9-speed AMT for CVs in India in better gear shifts and change gears in a fraction of a second.

Further, let's understand how it operates in detail: 

ZF has stated that the 9-speed transmission system, the AMT for CVs in India, has a clutch heat mapping algorithm which helps in reducing unnecessary wear. This is said to improve the clutch life significantly. The transmission system also has a Power Take Off (PTO) mechanism which functions with the 9-speed EcoTronic gearbox quite seamlessly for heavy-duty tipper truck applications. The system is modular meaning that it can be configured differently to adapt to different customer needs. 

Furthermore, this best-in-class transmission system helps save up to 5 per cent of fuel with ZF SACHS clutch kits as well. Apart from this, EcoTronic Mid AMT also offers a higher torque range (900Nm- 1500Nm). Finally, the brand has also stated that the 9-speed AMT solution is suitable for different applications including mining trippers, long-haul trucks, passenger transport and fuel carriers among others.
