FPT Industrial Acquires Minority Stake In Blue Energy Motors

Well-acclaimed zero-emission truck manufacturer, Blue Energy Motors headquartered in Pune, known for its recently launched heavy-duty LNG truck has entered a new strategic partnership with FPT Industrial, the global powertrain brand of Iveco Group. As part of their partnership, FPT is all set to acquire a minority stake in the company as per reports. 

While the two brands are focusing on natural gas fuelled trucks and related applications, under the new association, the companies will also closely work on future technology deployments in the areas of electrification of heavy-duty trucks. 

Under the strategic partnership, FPT Industrial will work in line with Blue Energy Motors’ values rooted in finding solutions to decarbonise the environment. FPT Industrial will now be part of Blue Energy Motors and its developments. 

With the partnership, Blue Energy Motors which launched India’s first Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) fuelled green truck at its recently inaugurated plant in Chakan, Pune is focusing on technology for alternate fuel to achieve the bigger goal of decarbonisation.

Further, It has maintained that EVs will be one of the sustainable solutions for reducing pollution caused by the commercial vehicle sector. With this partnership in place, Blue Energy Motors will be able to fulfil its target of decarbonising the heavy-transport sector in India, equipped with FPT’s technology and R&D development.

Blue Energy Motors started its journey with the launch of India’s first LNG-fuelled truck-the 5528 4×2 truck introduced by Mr Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors in the presence of Mr Gerrit Marx, CEO of Iveco Group, Mr Sylvain Blaise, President of Iveco Group’s Powertrain Business Unit, and His Excellency Mr Vincenzo de Luca, Ambassador of Italy to India on September 12. FPT Industrial is already providing its LNG engines for Blue Energy Motor’s trucks.

Speaking about this, Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors, said, “This is a momentous milestone for Blue Energy Motors. Strengthening our partnership with FPT Industrial will enable us to continue in the development of the company and to pioneer clean energy solutions including LNG &Electric in the upcoming year.
