  1. Temperature Gauge:

First and foremost, a truck could show that the engine is overheating due to a faulty thermostat. It could be either partially open, stuck or have bad wiring. Therefore, it's best to check and recheck the thermostat to see if it could be the cause for your truck overheating. If it is a faulty thermostat, then it could be an easy fix and you would not have to pay hefty amounts to fix it in most cases. It depends on what you are driving and the labour charges the mechanic seeks.┬а

  1. Blown Gasket:

Next, a blown head gasket could be the reason why your engine is overheating. If you find bubbling coolant under the hood or milky brown liquid under the oil filler cap, then it could mean that there is a broken head gasket or gasket leak. If it's a blown head gasket, then it's best that you stop driving the truck and tow it to a mechanic since driving the truck could further damage the engine.┬а
